Games Games and More Games

While we were away overseas my class was learning about Old-Fashioned Games, so we decided to play some old-fashioned games too.

Fisherman's Wharf Hotel - San Francisco

When we got to fishermen's wharf we  played a game called tiddlewinks. It was fun if you want to know  more then look at my other blogger  post.

Downtown Mountain View - Silicon Valley - San Francisco

One night we went on a walk after dinner and we found some games in a square by the Performing Arts Centre in Mountain View.  There were places to sit and hang out and some fun games to play.

Alcatraz Island

We went to Alkatraz which is an island that used to have a prison on it.  In one display we could see the games that the prisoners played.  They liked to play bridge which is a card game.

At home - Mountain View San Francisco

When we got to Mountain View in Silicon Valley we played some games.

My mum had brought some elastics so on a couple of days we practiced that.

We also found a giant jenga.  As well as playing Jenga we built some fun creations with the jenga blocks.

Inside that airbandb there was also some small jenga blocks.  We used those to play jenga too and I built this cool creation.

We also played Trouble.

Bravo Farms in Kettleman City California

On our road trip from San Francisco to Los Vegas we stopped at a cool place called Bravo Farms.  They had some fun old fashioned shoot-em-up games.  When you hit the targets the bear farted or talked to you or the cart turned.

Exploratorium San Francisco

At the Exploratorium in San Francisco we played a Cow Survival Game.  This game was designed by researchers who wanted to look at how humans behave.  Whether they look after other people or themselves.  In each turn each player lost or gained cows.  If your cows went under 60 for 3 turns you died.  You could share cows with other people to save them but you lose those cows when you do share.  Mum, Isaac and I played for a long time because we did lots of sharing.

Computer History Museum - Silicon Valley, California

When we went to the Computer History Museum we played a whole bunch of very old-fashioned video games.  Not as cool as Minecraft!

This was the second video game ever made. It's called Space War.

This game is called Pong.  It cam out slightly later than Spacewar.  This is like a game of tennis.  You move a your bat which is just a white line.  A white square which is the ball bounces off your bat and onto the other side.

This game is called Pacman!  You have to escape the ghosts and eat as many pellets as you can.  When you eat a super pellet you can eat the ghosts.

Circus Circus Casino - Las Vegas

In Las Vegas we went to a Casino called Circus Circus.  There we played a bunch of old fashioned arcade games.

This is my favourite game.  You had to shoot all the bad bunnies.

This was an old game called Mario Ghosts where you have to suck up ghosts.  Dad died and then I died to a more powerful ghost.

At the end of playing we had earned 107 tickets which meant we could trade them in for 40 tootsie rolls, 3 lollipops and a toy car.

At home in Los Angeles

When we got to Los Angeles - uh oh!  Mum got Covid.  Then we did too!  So we had to play inside a lot.  We started to learn how to play knucklebones.  It was really tricky to catch the knucklebones. But I kept trying and I did it!
