The Day of Kayaking

                                                      THE DAY OF KAYAKING

This week we are staying in a town called Roquebrun.  Today we went to Kayaking Roquebrun.  First we got paddles and safety gear.

This is me, my brother, my cousins and my Grandad all ready to go.

Then we got on a bus and drove to the start and got in our kayaks.

The water was a beautiful shade of emerald and you could see fish and algae beneath the kayak.

The water was mostly smooth but sometimes you would come to a rapid.  Rapids were hard to get through but really fun.  On one of the rapids I got stuck on one of the rocks but Isaac hit me with his kayak and got me free.

After a about 2 hours we came to a arch that marked half way.

Did you know that arches are the strongest shape in the world.  That's why the Romans built their bridges in arches. Like this one you can see behind me in the photo.

Then after another five mins we came to a beach were we had lunch and a quick swim.

We saw some kids jumping off a big rock face.  So we did that as well.  It was really fun.

Then we began to paddle again after three more hours many more breaks and rapids we finally came to the end.  The bridge ahead of me is the bridge at Roquebrun.

After  long day of kayaking I had improved at the start I was getting stuck on pretty much every rock by the end I was dodging like a pro. I also learnt to keep the nose of the boat were you want to go.  After we got back to our gîte we rested our weary bodies.
